Adolien Brand, Management Consultant


Adolien is a human resources consultant with close to 22 years experience in corporate and inter-mediate size companies on all aspects of the human resources domain, the management thereof, change management and team and management coaching.

She works as an independent consultant and enjoys working with different consultancy companies, assisting clients to enhance their capacities towards organisational success. Adolien has an honours degree in training management and specialises in training and development as well as personal and management coaching. She is also involved in planning and managing compliance projects in the financial industry and has extensive experience in commercial banking and general financial services. Adolien is an accredited ComSIM Business Management Simulation facilitator and has presented programmes in various industries such as financial, telecommunications and entrepreneurship. She enjoys personal coaching and is a certified (USA) Martha Beck Life Coach.

Ben Smithies, Management Consultant


Ben is an organisation and people development consultant and practitioner. He works with a variety of clients both in the public and private sector in the UK and internationally. He has also worked as an Associate of SOLACE Enterprises, Practive and Henley Business School.

Ben is a highly experienced coach and facilitator who specialises in working with business leaders to help them achieve their business objectives through fulfilling their own, and their people’s potential. Prior to setting up his own business he gained over seven years of consulting experience from his work in personal and organisational development with PwC. Before joining PwC he worked as a social worker and psychotherapist. It is this combination of experience, working with organisations, groups and individuals managing significant and challenging change that he brings to his work. He works with:

  • Individuals – coaching senior executives on leadership and personal effectiveness as well as influencing and managing personal and organisational change.
  • Teams – working with leaders and their teams to help them work together to deliver their business objectives, working with groups running advanced interpersonal skills programmes and facilitating learning sets.
  • Organisations – developing a variety of wide ranging projects such as those involving culture changes or facilitating large system strategic change.

Bob Empson, Management Consultant


Bob is a trusted adviser & coach for boards, CEOs & senior executives. Facilitating progress, change & results.

Bob Empson is White Maple’s founder and Principal Consultant. His career started with British Petroleum in the UK and Africa.  He became a management consultant in 1985 when he joined a specialist strategy and marketing consultancy. He subsequently established the strategy/marketing consulting group of a UK professional services firm. He founded White Maple Consulting in 2002.
Bob’s insights and inspiration are gained from:

Chris Pether, LLM BSc


Chris Pether, LLM, BSc has 18 years of Human Capital Management (HCM) and General Management experience working with middle market and global organizations. During that time she has worked as a corporate HR professional in telecommunications, professional services and in B2B online business sectors across Europe and the Americas.

Ms. Pether’s experience at senior management level in privately held family businesses, legal partnerships, start-ups and global corporations, operating in several very diverse industry sectors, combined with her expertise in diagnostic tools, management training and action learning techniques, gives her a rare ability to provide coaching and training for senior managers and help them find viable solutions for their business issues.
At Nortel Networks, a global telecommunications firm, Ms. Pether held numerous positions across the European markets in the field of HCM. Her last role was head of the European Resourcing Centre for external and internal hires. Ms. Pether joined Caliper Europe in 2002, a global assessment and human resources consulting firm, as managing director. She was responsible for building and managing the European operations and growing key accounts. Clients include Novartis, Abbott, Roche, Eurocopter, EADS, GMAC, C&A, European Patent Office, Gemalto.
Ms. Pether holds professional qualifications in public international law, German and Russian. Ms. Pether is licensed to deliver several ability and psychometric instruments and has been invited as speaker on the Human Resources Management Programme at HEC and Sciences Po in Paris.
She also runs cultural workshops at Euromed in Marseille. Ms. Pether is fluent in French, German and English. She also understands basic Dutch.
